With the wedding day getting closer, I've been taking extra care of my skin, mostly focusing on keeping it clear and free of blemishes. If you follow me on instagram you probably already seen some variation of my morning skin care routine, which in fact is pretty simple (moisturizing + eye contour + sunscreen). At night I ditch the sunscreen but I add a couple extra steps to help me with my skin concerns. One of the products I recently incorporated on my skin care regime, and has been really helpful fighting my hormonal acne breakouts , was the Neutrogena® Light Therapy Acne Spot Treatment ... just in case you're wondering WHAT IS THAT? Well, it is a device that targets and treats acne, without any harsh chemicals, using blue light (to kill bacteria) and red light (to reduce inflammation). I had a treatment like this before at the dermatologist but it was super expensive! So when I found out that Neutrogena had a product that works just as well and for a fraction of the price (It was only $16 at Walmart, THAT'S LIKE 50 CENTS per day guys!!) I didn't think twice and added it to my cart.
The first step on my night time skin care routine is Cleansing. This step is super important, specially when you wear a lot of makeup. I always start by taking my makeup off, using one or two Neutrogena® Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes. I love these because how effectively they remove the makeup while they're also gentle on the skin. After that I thourougly wash my face with Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser, which is a makeup remover as well!! After this second step, you bet I'm sure there isn't any stubborn mascara, nor oil clogging my pores.
Once my skin is clean and makeup free I use my Neutrogena® Light Therapy Acne Spot Treatment on my breakouts for two minutes at a time and that's it! It is recommended to use the device two or three times a day for better results, so I also repeat this step every morning and after work. One of the things I really like about this device is how portable and lightweight is because I can carry it on my purse and start treating any breakout even before it peaks out on the surface of my skin. I've found that by doing that, you don't even give the pimple a chance. The other day I felt a little inflamattion on my chin area so used my little device right away, the day after the inflamattion completely dissapeared. I'm telling you this works!
The Neutrogena® Light Therapy Acne Spot Treatment is a better option for those with mild or sporadic acne/breakouts. I usually get one or two breakouts on my chin or cheeks. If your acne is a little bit more severe than that, the Neutrogena® Light Therapy Acne Mask may be a better option for you. It allows you to treat your entire face at once, and you have to use it only once a day for 10 minutes. It works just like the Neutrogena® Light Therapy Acne Spot Treatment. Both are chemical-free and UVA/UVB-free. And NO, IT'S NOT HOT, you don't have to worry about your skin peeling or flaking after each treatment.
